What happened to my cookies?

Cringe!!

Wondering why your cookies sometimes turn out a little flatter than they were supposed to? 🤔 [Also, these cookies were left in the oven too long, but that's for another post.]

Well, one of the common mistakes that makes cookies spread like this is the temperature of the butter you used when making the dough! 😮

If it's melted or even just too soft, it can make the cookies spread while they are baking.

I can't tell you how many times this happened to me. I had to learn what "room temperature" meant and why it was important.

Room Temperature:
1️⃣ What is it? Letting an ingredient sit out of the refrigerator and allowing it to come up to the temperature of the room, around 70 degrees.
2️⃣ Why? This temperature allows for air to be whipped in which means more structure when your dough is baked. It also makes it easier for your ingredients to blend together.

Baking Tip:
Room Temp Butter= holds a finger indent, is slightly cool to the touch and shouldn't look greasy but look smooth.
